Traffic Violations

Rules & Regulations

The Court does not necessarily require a personal appearance on traffic violations. The Court has in place a Violations Bureau, which has the authority to take a plea on a traffic violation case and assess a fine based on a schedule set by the Court. Options for entering pleas are set forth on the back of the traffic citation.  You must contact the Court prior to the date and time of your court appearance, unless you intend to appear in court.

A plea of "not guilty" or "no contest" can be entered on traffic infractions. If a "not guilty" plea is entered, the case will be set for trial at a later date. If a plea of "no contest" is entered, bail in the amount shown on the ticket as "presumptive fine" should be posted, unless otherwise instructed by the Court Clerk.
