Our Mission
The mission of the Dallas Police Department is to provide professional, effective and unbiased police services, in a fair and ethical manner.
Dallas 2030 Vision Statement
"Our Health and Safety" is the focus area of our community's 2030 vision statement which includes elements most directly relevant to the functions of our police department.
Those elements are:
- "Dallas has broad access to community-based police, fire, and medical services through enhanced regional cooperation."
- "The city of Dallas has state-of-the-art police, fire, and medical equipment and facilities supporting reliable emergency services."
The members of the Dallas Police Department are constantly working towards achieving and maintaining the community's vision of our department in the year 2030, as stated in the above elements.
Dallas Police Department New Station Project
The Dallas Police Department has outgrown its current space and needs a new station. The 27-person department is currently working out of multiple buildings in and around City Hall. The officers and staff need more space in their own, dedicated facility to work more efficiently and stay safe while they serve our community.
A new, larger station has been proposed at 147 SE Court St., the current site of the Polk County Itemizer-Observer, next to the department’s current facilities. This new station would be more secure and provide space for training, evidence processing and other essential tasks.
More information about the project is available at this online open house. This virtual open house provides an overview of the project, including floor plans and details about the future site. We are no longer accepting responses, but the feedback submitted was used to inform the exterior design of the new station.
We will be holding another round of open house events in December to share new information about the proposed station, including a cost estimate and an updated design. Members of the public are encouraged to attend one of the events:
- In person: Tuesday, Dec. 17, Dallas City Hall (187 SE Court St)
- Presentation 6-7 p.m.
- Tours of existing facilities available 5:30-6 p.m. and 7-7:30 p.m.
- Online: Dec. 10-20 The online open house will be available on this page.
