The Dallas Police Department is hosting open house events in December to share updates on the proposed new station.
- In person: Tuesday, Dec. 17, Dallas City Hall (187 SE Court St)
- Presentation 6-7 p.m.
- Tours of existing facilities available 5:30-6 p.m. and 7-7:30 p.m.
- Online: Dec. 10-20 at dallasor.gov/police
Members of the public are encouraged to attend one of the events to learn what the new station will cost and see the proposed design, which was updated after the department received public feedback from open house events in October.
The 27-person Dallas Police Department has outgrown its current space. In order to work more efficiently and cohesively, the department needs more space in its own, dedicated building.
The department needs a larger facility, with separate spaces to process evidence, train officers and provide privacy for victims and family members.
The proposed station will be about 14,000 square feet, with all the necessary spaces for the officers’ essential needs, plus room for the department to grow. The new station will be located at 147 SE Court St., the current site of the Polk County Itemizer-Observer and next to its current facilities.
