History of Friends of the Dallas Aquatic Center
Friends of the Dallas Aquatic Center (FDAC) began in October 2018 in response to the City’s proposal to sell the Dallas Aquatic Center (DAC) to the YMCA. Our proposal was to raise $50,000 a year through donations and advertising banners at the DAC. We asked if that would be enough help to the City not sell the DAC to an outside entity. Greg Ellis, City Manager at the time, said yes it would be enough, and he offered the services of City Attorney Lane Shetterly to help us with the nonprofit paperwork. We gladly accepted, put a board of directors together and completed all the paperwork.
Nonprofit status
Our nonprofit status as a 501(c)3 nonprofit charitable corporation was received on February 22, 2019. All donations receive a tax-deductible receipt.
Our Mission Statement
The Friends of the Dallas Aquatic Center was formed to increase awareness of the pool as a place for health and wellness, to raise funds to support specific projects and defray costs of operation of the Dallas Aquatic Center (DAC).
