City Charter Amendment Committee Volunteer Application

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a founder of a government, writing a constitution and establishing the government? Now is your chance! The Dallas City Charter is the City’s governing document and outlines how our City government works. The City’s current charter is 60 years old with small revisions approved by the voters in 2014.

The Dallas City Council is seeking citizen volunteers to be a part of a committee to review, and make recommended revisions to the current City Charter.

The committee’s work will begin in May 2023. You will meet two times each month to discuss and make recommended revisions. It is expected the committee will complete this work by October 2023.

This is an important process which will have a great impact on the form and function of your local government.

To apply, simply complete a form on this webpage and return it to the City Manager's Office by the May 31st deadline.
