Building Permits: Residential Property Owners

The City of Dallas Building Division staff is here to help determine if a permit is required, and to help through the entire permit and building process.  The City utilizes the State of Oregon ePermitting program to pull permits, upload plans and documents, pay for permits, track permit progress, and to schedule inspections

The following Residential Permit Types are available: 

  • Residential 1 & 2 Fam Dwelling (New Only) Limited-DWL        (Single Family Residence-SFR, Duplex, and Accessory Dwelling Unit-ADU) 
  • Residential Structural-STR                                                        (Additions, Remodels, Alterations, Repairs)
  • Residential Mechanical-MECH                                                  (Heaters, Air Conditioners, Heat Pumps, Ventilation, Water Heaters)
  • Residential Plumbing-PLM                                                        (Fixtures, Gas Water Heaters, Backflow Devices)
  • Manufactured Home Placement-MFD                                       (Placement only)

Note: Residential Dwelling permits are inclusive, which include the structural, mechanical and plumbing and backflow fees. 

Residential permits can be pulled by either a licensed contractor or the property owner(s). Please be advised that paper applications are not provided.  If a property owner is doing their own work, an Information Notice to Owners about Construction Responsibilities must be submitted. 

Electrical Permits are handled through the Polk County jurisdiction via Oregon ePermitting or by contacting Polk County Community Development at 503.623.9237.
